Staying in S. Cristina offers a strategic advantage that many Val Gardena tourists overlook. While others are stuck in bus traffic from Ortisei or Selva, guests at Garni Cir are already clicking into their bindings. However, even in S. Cristina, there is a "smart" way to ski.
The Morning Rush at Saslong The Saslong Gondola is the gateway to the world-famous World Cup downhill run. Between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, the base station can get crowded. If you want to ski the Sellaronda (the 40km circular circuit) without spending your morning in a queue, you need a local’s plan.
The Monte Pana Shortcut Instead of joining the main gondola queue, walk just a few minutes from Garni Cir to the Monte Pana chairlift. This lift is rarely congested and offers a beautiful, quiet ascent. From the top of Monte Pana, you take the Tramans chairlift. This is the ultimate "backdoor" into the Sellaronda.
By the time you reach the Ciampinoi peak via this route, you’ve skipped the main bottle-neck and are perfectly positioned to start either the Orange Sellaronda (clockwise) or the Green Sellaronda (counter-clockwise).
Pro Skiing Tips for Garni Cir Guests:
- The "La Longia" Finish: If you end your day at Seceda, take the 10km "La Longia" run down to Ortisei, then use your free Val Gardena Mobilcard to take the bus back to S. Cristina—it drops you off right near our door.
- Ski Storage: Don't forget to use our heated boot room so your gear is dry and warm for your "5-minute dash" to the lifts.
